Creative Philosophy

Purpose

While some students may find prestige in having a professor who authors scholarly articles in academic journals, the majority are motivated by learning marketable skills and applicable theories that lead to meaningful careers. It is the immediacy and tangible nature of creativity that resonates most deeply with students. Witnessing their instructor actively engaged in creative pursuits, crafting with their hands, inspires them to do the same and make something meaningful of their lives.

Direction

I teach students that the present moment is crucial, and the space they inhabit is significant. I empower them to make a lasting mark on the world, one that not only elevates their own vision but also uplifts those they encounter.

I encourage students to admire and aspire to the skills of others, and then to tirelessly earn those skills for themselves.

I guide students to see beyond the confines of their immediate surroundings, to understand that the world extends further than the paths from their dorm rooms to their classrooms or the virtual expanse of the internet.

I help students recognize that there is no separate "real world" awaiting them after graduation; they are already active participants in it.

And, if I must, I use words.

Motivation

As much as I enjoy studying the works of other people in my role as a researcher, I, too, want to leave my mark on the world through my creations.
