Purpose | Direction | Motivation
For two decades, the majority of my adult life, I was indoctrinated in the U.S. Army definition of leadership—the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization. This is a cultivated advantage I bring to work, goals, and communication no matter if I am a formal or informal leader.
Accomplishment calls for much more than staying busy or just doing things. Accomplishment of the highest order requires vision and communication of that vision. A continual return to and focus on purpose, direction, and motivation is more than a step or milestone; it is the guide rail through the entire endeavor and on to the next.
